WHS Academic Decathlon Team Bring Home Gold

Congratulations to the Academic Decathlon team who travelled to Nationals last week in Texas.  The team earned a record high 6 medals.  Trigg Peasley and Cali Moody tied for gold in essay in their bracket.  Peasley also earned gold for the interview portion of the contest.  Calysta Bascus earned gold in essay in her bracket.  Colter Kennedy earned a bronze medal in Language and Literature, and Quinn Lawrence earned a Bronze in Science.  Calysta Bascus was chosen most valuable player by her teammates, and Elyse Rutherford  earned the high point award for the team.  Each of these girls earned a $250 scholarship.  In addition, Matthew Wilhelm place 4th in Science and Elyse Rutherford placed 4th in interview.   Overall the team placed 10th out of 22 teams in their division.
